Our Studio
A space for the digital age.
The Studio at W2 Films is a modern production facility designed to unleash the kind of creativity that the digital age has ushered in. Here, in the Van Buren Building, in the heart of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District our 1600-square-foot production facility is where we concept, script, shoot, edit, and export everything we create. The requirements for shooting are very different today. Innovative digital compositing in post (thanks Adobe) means fewer sets, props, and rigs. Start with a clean, 25-foot corner cyc, add white limbo, black fabric, or green screen and it quickly becomes clear why the over-sized sound stage is becoming extinct. We've leveraged technology to enable an immersive environment where everyone in the space can be a part of the content that's being created. Workstations and mobile devices are connected to TVs and projectors to enable a cinema-level workflow. And because shoots and edit sessions take time, it's also a very comfortable and accommodating space, allowing everyone to stay productive and maybe play a little.
Our Founder
A brand advocate.
Richard Wallin began his career in advertising and for nearly two decades worked in Minneapolis, New York, Los Angeles, and Tokyo with high profile global brands and motion picture studios. Over the years he has led several integrated marketing campaigns that straddle Hollywood and Madison Avenue including the Reggie and Effie Award-winning launch of the BMW Z3 Roadster in MGM-United Artist’s James Bond film GoldenEye. Overseas, he tapped the DreamWorks feature animation crew to create newly animated content launching DreamWorks motion picture properties at Universal Studios Japan. His career roles have led the production of commercial content in other high spend categories including beer, airlines, sporting goods, and fashion in all forms of advertising, distribution, and live production. In 2006, he launched W2 Films to continue to help brands and cause-related organizations reach newly fragmented audiences with engaging storytelling content in online and social media channels with a passion for producing content that can elevate the good in all of us.
